The Pennsylvania Employees Benefit Trust Fund (PEBTF) announced today that Highmark, Aetna, Capital Blue Cross, Geisinger Health Plan and United Healthcare have been selected to provide health benefits to approximately 80,000 eligible commonwealth employees and their dependents, effective January 1, 2011.

The commonwealth is pleased to announce the launch of the Voluntary Benefits Program. These optional benefits, which can be purchased by employees at affordable group rates, will be available through convenient payroll deduction.

Open enrollment is from June 20 to July 18, 2008. The effective dates for the following policies will be September 1, 2008:

• Optional Term Life Insurance
• Dependent Term Life Insurance
• Long Term Disability Insurance
